Why People Began filing Belviq Lawsuits

In February of 2020, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent a request to Eisai Inc. to withdraw the drug due to the potential cancer link voluntarily. This request was made after the findings of a 5-year study on Belviq conducted to find serious cardiovascular risks. Although no serious cardiovascular risks were found to be associated with Belviq, an increased risk of cancer did show up. The details of the study included 12,000 people, with some taking Belviq and some taking a placebo. Upon review of the details, the trial showed that only 7.1 percent of placebo participants developed cancer, while 7.7 percent of Belviq participants developed cancer. Shortly after these findings, Belviq users began to file lawsuits.
